just checking in

It has been a while since I have posted, so I just thought I would do a quick update.

Things are going very well for us. We are adapting quite well to the huge changes that have come to us!

Quinn loves Miles! It took a while, and he still has his jealous fits occasionally, but he loves him! He spends a lot of time just staring at him while he is asleep (that is one of the major pastimes at our house!). He gives him kisses and gentle hugs, and he loves to brush his hair (which has fallen out on top, mostly). Quinn likes to hold Baby Miles (for about ten seconds at a time); he always asks, "Hold it, please?"

Grandma Terri brought Quinn a set of books over the weekend. They are really cute books that teach a little lesson and then ask questions at the end. Quinn really likes them! The funny part of the story it this: One of the books, Seasons, has a picture of a cute little boy on the cover. Quinn gets SO EXCITED about that book because he is absolutely convinced that it is a picture of Dalton on the cover... did I mention the cute little boy on the book is black? So, he calls it his "Dalton book" and gives "Dalton" kisses. It is adorable! I am repeatedly amazed by the super-strong connection Quinn feels to Dalton, even though they are apart twelve out of every fourteen days. Maybe that makes it a little easier to forget how Dalton looks. ;)

Now, a couple pictures of my fellas:

QUESTION:
I need advice; It is my turn this year to splurge a little with our tax returns. I am going to buy myself a new computer since my laptop stopped working and it is a pain in the butt to share Travis' music computer (not because of him, just 'cause I don't want to mess anything up!). I am going to buy a photo editing program to go with it, and I don't have any idea what to get. I want to be able to do a lot of different things with it. I would love to be able to do that effect where it's mostly black and white with a little bit of color in an area of it, and things like that... any suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions right now on programs but if you want us to build you a computer we can probably do it pretty cheaply. Just let us know.

Maybe Photoshop elements? I will do a bit of research for you. I keep thinking I need a program for photo editing too.

Your boys are so cute! We need to get together some time soon. But it might have to wait a couple of weeks since Andrew is getting his tonsils out next week.

Hi Sarah! I would strongly recommend Photoshop Elements 7. It has a bit of a learning curve, but it is a powerful program that will allow you lots of flexibility as you learn more and more about it and photography.

My hubby (who is a computer guy) bought me a new laptop this past summer for my birthday at Best Buy. I absolutely love it - I use A LOT of resources on my computer and this one totally keeps up with me. It actually completely replaced my desktop when I got it. Here is the link to see it at Best Buy:

I am happy to help you with whatever you need! Just email me! :-)

I know this is an old post but being a professional photographer I know how hard it is for me to use photoshop..I think Lightroom is actually easier for people who are starting out in editing. It is user friendly. Its made by adobe and was great in price. If you have photoshop it will get easier as you use it.
